Hate for Sale by Neil Gaiman

Buy my hate. You’ll come right back for more.
Hate for sale. Enough to start a war.
Hate the rich, the brown, the black, the poor.
Hate is clean. And hate will make you sure.

The Visible Poetry Project‘s final video for National Poetry Month was a real corker: a topical, satirical poem by the great Neil Gaiman recited by Peter Kenny in the soundtrack for a beautifully done stop-motion animation by Anna Eijsbouts.

Nicholas Was… by Neil Gaiman

It would be hard to top last year’s animation of “Nicholas Was…” by Beijing motion graphics studio 39 Degrees North, but Trine Malde and narrator Aaron Kay took this in a completely different direction with “a mixture of rotoscoped animation, live action and found footage to comment on the stress and evil of christmas consumerism.”

Nicholas Was… by Neil Gaiman

A prose-poem from Gaiman’s collection Smoke and Mirrors animated by the Beijing motion graphics studio 39 Degrees North to serve as a video Christmas card. Gaiman himself was enthusiastic, and encouraged people to make and post more video adaptations of the poem to be featured on his blog on Christmas day.
