Advice Dyslexic by Lisa Vihos

Lamp the lights
and harvest the gather.
Let no unturned go stone.

A nicely minimalist video remix by Dale Wisely of a Poetry Storehouse poem by Lisa Vihos, using Nic S.’s reading in the soundtrack. The text is delightful; some of the inverted phrases make better advice than the originals. And somehow watching moving images while hearing them helped me put them together. (Though I wonder whether a dyslexic person would have the same reaction.)

mimes in hi-fi by Howie Good

Poet: | Nationality: | Filmmaker:

Dale Wisely has been making videopoems at a great rate, playing with a variety of techniques and approaches. Here, a Babel of voices and text gradually gives way to a poem in the soundtrack and (partially) on the screen. Howie Good is one of the hardest working and most widely published poets on the internet; it’s always a pleasure to add to his archive here.

Stopping is Prohibited by Dale Wisely

Poet: | Nationality: | Filmmaker:

Alabama-based poet, publisher and psychologist Dale Wisely continues his experiments with videopoetry, here contributing his own text and music and using public-domain footage from Pond5. He credits a story on Radiolab for inspiring some of the text, which is not the first time a film-poet has been inspired by that show.

A collage videopoem by Dale Wisely using a text by Laura M Kaminski from The Poetry Storehouse. The voices in the soundtrack are Nic S.’s and Eric Burke’s. The poem originally appeared in One Sentence Poems, which Wisely co-edits with Robert Scotellaro.
