A Dream Within a Dream by Edgar Allan Poe

Aside from the somewhat monotonous reading, this is a stand-out videopoem, both because of the quality of filming and editing and because the wedding of Poe to scenes from the Everglades National Park is so surprising and successful. “Dans le cadre de mon tour du monde,” says the filmmaker, Sophie Galibert.

  2. The Everglades was an inspired choice, and some of the transitions (“pitiless” to desiccated scrub) quite boffo. But I agree: the See Saw Margery Daw reading adds nothing.

Although sustained rhyme schemes aren’t currently in vogue, I’d love to think that someone out there is reading them well. Cue Voice Alpha!
